Prolonged Visine Usage.

Prolonged usage of Visine can cause blood vessels to be dilated for extended periods of time. It can also cause  redness to worsen after extended usage.

Medication Without Intoxication

It will be a while before Arizona has as many medication options as California, Colorado, and Montana.

There are a number of strains in these states that are low in THC (tetrahydrocannibinol) and high in CBD (cannabidiol). This will usually cut down on the “high” feeling that marijuana causes and allow the medicating properties of cannabis to be used for their intended purposes primarily as an anti inflammatory.

Although these strains are new, another form has been in usage for as long as marijuana has been used as medicine. The tincture is an alcohol or glycerin based liquid and until marijuana was banned in 1937, this was the way to medicate.

Some of the cannabinoids such as cannibidiol (CBD) actually reduce the psychoactive effects of THC while increasing the overall efficacy of the preparation.

This medication is best used sublingually (under the tongue) as the medicine is rapidly absorbed into the arterial system and is quickly transported to the brain and body.

The Irony Of The Federal Government.

The United States government has been involved with medical marijuana since 1978.

They have been providing marijuana joints to patients for year that are produced at the University Of Mississippi. There are currently 6 patients, 4 of which are public, that have been getting joints for years.

Since it’s called the Compassionate Investigational New Drug Program, they probably need to change the name since it’s not really new as it has been in effect for the last 33 years.

George H.W. Bush closed the program in 1992 to new patients but allows the others to continuously receive medication. At its peak, the program had 30 patients.

Happy 4-20 Everyone!!

Celebrate 4-20 by getting legal today, we can help.

Medical Marijuana Doctors Office-MMJDO

Working On Finalizing Our Patient Licensing Center

Finalizing the plan for our patient licensing center. It is estimated that 20% of patients will not have access to a computer to get legal so we have put together the following plan.

The three main items that have posted the biggest issues are the following.

600 dpi scanned photograph for your card.

Electronic copy of your drivers license.

Electronic copy of your doctors recommendation.

For the picture we will be adding a digital camera hooked to the terminal that will take your photograph and you can upload from there.

We are adding a scanner where you can turn your drivers license as well as you recommendation into electronic copies for attachment.

This should take care of the hardest items to come up with for your Arizona State Medical Marijuana Card, as well as just having an area for patients.

Although a card in California is optional, they have locations similar to third party DMV’s that will help you get licensed. This would be a great addition to Arizona to help get the patients going.

What Strains Are Good For Me?

The one negative to a new medical marijuana program is that we don’t have access to the strains that other states have. Some strains have been shown to relieve certain conditions while other strains have shown to help relieve others.

The strains are generally grouped into the following.

Cannabis Indica

The indica highs are most often described as a pleasant body buzz. Indicas are great for relaxation, stress relief, and for an overall sense of calm and serenity. Marijuana indicas are also very effective for overall body pain relief, and often used in the treatment of insomnia. They are the late – evening choice of many patients as an all – night sleep aid. A few pure indica strains are very potent in THC.

Cannabis Sativa

The effects of a sativa marijuana are mostly cerebral. They give a feeling of optimism and well – being, as well as providing a good measure of pain relief for certain symptoms. A few pure sativas are also very high in THC content. They are known to have a quite spacey, or hallucinogenic, effect. Sativas are a good choice for daytime smoking.

Hybrid plants have a combination of both Indica and Sativa growth characteristics which are relative to strain ratio.

Our website will have pertinent information to each of the specific conditions that allow for medical marijuana usage under state law. Also when the dispensaries open, they will have specific information about their strains and what they can be used for.

Medical Marijuana And Lung Disease

A recent study was found to determine the combined and independent effects of tobacco and marijuana smoking on respiratory symptomsand chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in the general population.  COPD is a progressive lung disease that makes it hard to breathe.  COPD symptoms include chronic coughing, mucus production, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.  The leading cause of COPD is tobacco smoke.  The above mentioned study evaluated 878 people aged 40 and older and assessed their respiratory history, use of tobacco and use of marijuana. They performed lung function tests before and after using medication that opens up the lungs.

The findings: “Smoking both tobacco and marijuana synergisticallyincreased the risk of respiratory symptoms and COPD. Smokingonly marijuana was not associated with an increased risk ofrespiratory symptoms or COPD.”  (Tan, et al, Canadian Medical Association Journal, 4/14/09; 180)

Despite these findings, most physicians still recommend that medical marijuana patients do not smoke their medication and instead use vaporizers, edibles, or tinctures.  It is clear from this study that the damage that smoking tobacco can cause is significant (which we all knew before anyway!) and it can be worsened if you also smoke marijuana.
